Entrance Audition Guideline: a collection of ideas
From Nicole Riner, University of Wyoming: I try to keep things open to student choice; what they want to play (and think sounds good) can be as telling as how they play it.
Undergraduate students: Audition repertoire should include two selections of contrasting styles, taking care to demonstrate the applicant's strengths as both a technical and lyrical player. Please contact Dr. Riner for any assistance in choosing literature.
Graduate students: Audition repertoire should display facility in various styles; please prepare selections from the following time periods:
- Baroque
- Classical
- Romantic
- Modern or Avante-garde
Performance majors should also prepare 2-3 contrasting orchestral excerpts. Please contact Dr. Riner at nicole.riner@gmail.com for any assistance in choosing literature.
